Stuff you are likely to see on this blog - photography stuff, painting stuff, drawing stuff, rants, quotes, dream stuff, fairy tales, folklore, desert stuff, birds, wildlife, funny stuff, sad stuff, beautiful stuff, ugly stuff, self-care stuff but mostly just me stuff.

"I’m proud of you and I love you; you will be okay."
something you should tell yourself every day because you should be and you should do, and you really will be. (via metamorphosisofmeg)

So you can’t like Cersei Lannister as a character because she’s an evil bitch, but it’s okay to love Loki and Walter White?

Xochi likes the ottoman I made. Still needs a few finishing touches, but it’s a thing.

"So here’s the thing – this country’s cultural pie gets bigger, not smaller, as more people are allowed to partake of it. When children and young adults see their lives and concerns reflected in the homegrown books they read, the films and television programmes they see, the computer games they play, they feel they and their lives are not invisible. Seeing yourself in the cultural world leads to a sense of better social inclusion and a feeling that you are part of something, that you have a stake in it and wish to add constructively to it. For some – like me when I read The Color Purple at the age of 21 – it plants the seed of an idea that maybe you too could be a part of the rich cultural heritage of your country."

You can still be vegan and fat because veganism is not a diet, it is a lifestyle.

There are actually people who degrade other vegans for being fat.

If you’re vegan and overweight, remember that not contributing to the animal industry is awesome and you just keep doing what you’re doing without letting people tell you that your weight has anything to do with your personality.

A 2500 year old mummy that had some amazing tattoos.

This mummy, found in the  Altai mountains of Siberia, is actually that of a young woman who died at about the age of twenty-five; she is thought to have been a member of the Pazyryk tribe.

She was buried with six horses and two similarly-tattooed men (the horned griffon that decorates her shoulder also appears on the man buried closest to her, covering most of his right side), possibly escorts. She was also wearing a horse-hair wig, silk, and elaborate boots, which is all a level of ceremony that would have likely only been accorded to a woman of high rank. You didn’t get inked like this unless you were very important, and had worked your way up to that importance.

…Hence, of course, the references to her by researchers as ‘The Ukok Princess,’ although due to the lack of weapons in her grave they have concluded that the woman was in fact a healer or a storyteller.

And now I’m all consumed with curiosity: Who was she? What amazing things did she accomplish? Why these symbols, and what did they mean? Who were the two men alongside her?

The most informative article about it can be found here, although I would completely eat up any other information you guys could find.

HAPPENING NOW (9.24.14): The situation in Ferguson is escalating quickly. Protests continue, following this morning’s burning of a Mike Brown memorial, and another frustrating Ferguson City Council meeting.Looks like the same “antagonize over de-escalate” tactics are back online. Prayers to all those out in the street of Ferguson right now fighting for their right to exist. #staywoke #farfromover (PT IPT IIPT III)

Bringing back the dogs, choppers, charging the crowd, attempting to bottleneck protesters into an area, AND live shots possible fired into the crowd… what the ever-living fuck is Ferguson PD trying to do?! We’re a month and a half into this saga, and they still don’t know how to de-escalate a situation. Pray y’all. That might be all we got right now.

Fall time for me means: Brush fires and pumpkins. Santa Ana winds and creativity. The desire to paint, redecorate, construct, adventure, have dinner parties and see the world. Fall time also means shorter days and longer nights and it feels like I don’t have much time before the walls start closing in.
